Hochalm zwischen Königssee und Jenner

Unterhalb des Schneibsteinhauses erstreckt sich das Almgelände der Königsbergalm. Erstmals urkundlich erwähnt wurde die Königsbergalm bereits im Jahre 1385. Zwischen 1540 und 1810 wurde hier oben sogar ein Bergwerk betrieben und Erz abgebaut.



Bergbau auf der Königsbergalm

Das Almgebiet der Königsbergalm rund um den Sulzbergkaser liegt zwischen 1.500 und 1.650 Metern. Die Almhütte, der Sulzbergkaser wurde bereits im 17. Jahrhundert erbaut, berichtet Almbauer Franz Stangassinger und war ehemals eine Unterkunft für die Bergleute der Region. Hier wurde unter anderem Mangan, Kupfer und Gold abgebaut. Die Grundmauern aus dieser Zeit sind beim steinernen Sulzbergkaser noch zu sehen, imposant auch die schweren Steine auf dem Schindeldach. Die Hütte wurde immer wieder neu hergerichtet und so kann der Senner Markus hier auch heute gut arbeiten.

Blei- und Zinkerzbergbau

Das ehemalige Bergbaugebiet auf der Königsbergalm liegt westlich des Torrener Joches in ca. 1500 bis 1600 Meter Höhe. Die Bergreviere, geteilt in ein West- und Ostfeld, finden sich am flach geneigten Nordhang des Königsbergrückens im unmittelbaren Umgebungsbereich des Schneibsteinhauses in 1670 Meter Höhe. Zum Westfeld Georg zählten neben kleineren Tagschürfen der Georgschacht und der Clarastollen auf dem Nordhang des Königsbergrückens in 1656 bzw. 1600 Meter Höhe.

Im Ostfeld Anton und Barbara, dem eigentlichen Abbaugebiet, befand sich bei der Königsbergalm in 1670 Meter der Schurfbau Anton. Vermutlich war der alte Tagschurf Ausgangspunkt sämtlicher Bergbauaktivitäten in diesem Gebiet. Zum Ostfeld zählt der noch offene, ca. 300 Meter Länge messende Barbarastollen mit mehreren Abbauzechen in 1581 Meter Höhe am Königsbach. Der heute unzugängliche Heinrich-Unterbaustollen in 1518 Meter Höhe blieb im Aufschlussstadium stecken.



Wandern zur Königsbergalm

Die Königsbergalm ist von Parkplatz Hinterbrand oder der Mittelstation der Jennerbahn in einer leichten Wanderung über den Königsweg zu erreichen. Oder ab Juni 2019 auch wieder von der Bergstation der Jennerbahn. Seit kurzem ist der Weg über die Königsbergalm auch für Mountainbiker freigegeben. Dieses Strecke ist ein Teil der Mountainbike Tour rund um den Hohen Göll: Diese anspruchsvolle MTB-Tour führt vom Parkplatz an der Dokumentation auf dem Obersalzberg erst gemütlich über die Scharitzkehlalm und dem Hinterbrand-Parkplatz zur Königsbachalm. Dann kommt ein knackiger Anstieg über die Königsbergalm am Schneibsteinhaus vorbei zum Stahlhaus auf dem Torrener Joch. Nach einer Pause geht's steil bergab auf einer Schiebe- bzw. Tragepassage bis zur Oberjochalm im Bluntautal. Ab hier können wir wieder auf's Rad: vorbei am Bluntausee auf dem Tauernradweg Richtung Hallein. Von Hallein auf der Winterstallstraße über Bad Dürnberg zur Paßhöhe Gmerk. Den Blick auf das Berchtesgadener Land gerichtet geht's jetzt abwärts Richtung Oberau und weiter über die Obersalzbergstraße zum Ausgangspunkt.

Schneibsteinhaus und Stahlhaus

Den Abschluss des Almgeländes am Königsberg bilden zwei Berghütten: Das Schneibsteinhaus ist eine privat geführte Schutzhütte und ein ebenso wichtiger Stützpunkt für Touren im Hagengebirge wie das noch etwas höher liegende Stahlhaus.
