The normal route to Hohe Brett leads in a demanding hike over the Jenner and the Carl von Stahl House at Torrener Joch. If you start after the ride with the Jennerbahn at the mountain station, the summit of Hohe Brett can be reached in about 3 hours

    Author’s recommendation

The ascent can be significantly shortened with the Jennerbahn cable car.

    Safety information

Up to the Jenner a relatively easy mountain hike, the transition to Hohe Brett is quite a demanding mountain route with simple, steel cable-secured rock passages.

    The Jennerbahn

    Roadbook

The starting point of the mountain route to Hohe Brett is the Hinterbrand hiking car park. Here we follow the path towards the Jennerbahn mid-station. At the beginning of the Krautkaserfeld, we turn left and follow the steep, winding path uphill. Passing the hut of the Krautkaseralm, we ascend to the hollow path, which we follow to Klaus Maxei – Mitterkaseralm.

We cross the Mitterkaserkessel and follow the path over the Jennersattel towards the Carl-von-Stahl-Haus. Behind the Stahlhaus, the path becomes more alpine. The short detour to the 1837-meter-high Pfaffenkegel is a must. It continues steep and rocky, secured with steel cables at the difficult parts, up to the Jägerkreuz at about 2200 meters elevation. Now the path becomes easier again. On the gently ascending slope, we climb up to the summit of Hohe Brett at 2340 meters.

The descent is made by the same route or past the Schneibsteinhaus and via the Königsbachalm.
