Hirschbichl: Pass an der Bayerisch-Österreichischen Grenze

Im ehemaligen Zollwachhaus an der Grenze zwischen Bayern und dem Salzburger Land befindet sich der Alpengasthof Hirschbichl. Von Anfang Mai bis Mitte Oktober hat der Gasthof geöffnet, jeweils Dienstag ist Ruhetag. Im benachbarten Bergheim stehen insgesamt 47 Betten zur Verfügung, die mit Frühstück oder Halbpension, aber auch als Selbstversorger gemietet werden können.



Übernachten im historischen Zollhaus Hirschbichl

Gemütliche Ferienwohnungen bieten den idealen Platz zum Auspannen nach der Bergtour und Kraft tanken für das nächste Abenteuer. Sie haben die Wahl: vom kuscheligen Doppelzimmer über das gemütliche kleine Bettenlager bis hin zum heimeligen Appartement. Frühstück oder Halbpension bietet der Alpengasthof Hirschbichl - wer selbst den Kochlöffel schwingen möchte, der hat in jeder Wohnung natürlich eine Küche.

Von Bergsteigerdorf zu Bergsteigerdorf: Wandern und Mountainbiken

Man kann durch das Klausbachtal zum Hirschbichl wandern, mit dem Mountainbike oder mit dem Almerlebnisbus bis vor die Haustür fahren. Am Hirschbichl treffen nicht nur die beiden Naturschutzgebiete Nationalpark Berchtesgaden und Naturpark Weißbach aufeinander, die Gemeinde Ramsau auf deutscher Seite und die Gemeinde Weißbach bei Lofer im Saltzburger Saalachtal sind beides Bergsteigerdörfer: Dementsprechend vielfältig sind die Möglichkeiten: Wandern zu den umliegenden Almen, ausgedehnte Mountainbiketouren oder Bergsteigen zu den Gipfeln des Steinernen Meeres, der Hirschbichl kann Ausgangspunkt für viele Outdoor-Aktivitäten sein.



Die Geschichte des Hirschbichl

Erstmals wurde der Weg über den Hirschbichlpass im Jahre 14 vor Christus in einem Atlas dieser Zeit erwähnt. Ab 1240 wurde der Pass dann ausgebaut, um das Salz der Salzbergwerke am Dürrnberg bei Hallein über Berchtesgaden und den Hirschbichl in den Pinzgau zu transportieren. Mit Pferdefuhrwerken befuhren die Salzsäumner den steilen Pass. Aber nicht nur im Salzhandel des 17. Jahrhundert war dergrenzüberschreitende Hirschbichl-Pass ein strategisch wichtiger Punkt, sondern auch im 2. Weltkrieg.

Der heutige Hirschbichl ist jedoch weniger den Salzsäumern, sondern vielmehr den Salzschmugglern zu verdanken, die im 16. Jahrhundert ihre Blüte erlebten. Der Hirschbichl wurde damals heiß umkämpft. Um das beschlagnamte Salz lagern zu können, mussten die Grenzer größere Gebäude anstelle ihrer kleinen Wachhütten bauen. 1759 erlaubte man dann schließlich erstmals den Bau von massiven Befestigungen zum Schutz und außerdem den Ausschank von Bier. So wurde aus dem Grenzübergang eine Raststation.

Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts kam es zwischen Bayern und Frankreich zu erbitterten Kämpfen um den Verkehrsknotenpunkt Hirschbichl. Nach der vollkommenen Zerstörung der Grenzanlagen, ging der Hirschbichl schließlich in den Besitz der Familie Kofler über, die Vorfahren der heutigen Eigentümer des Ensemble: Familie Hohenwarter. 1849 baut der Hirschbichlwirt  auf eigene Kosten die Kapelle, die mit ihrer einzigartigen Lourdesgrotte auch heute noch zu bewundern ist und in der jedes Jahr ein Gottesdienst für die Almleute der umliegenden Almen stattfindet.
