Roadbook
The ascent to the Kärlingerhaus is extremely varied: It starts with the regular boat over the Königssee, past St. Bartholomä over the water to the Salet dock on the south shore of the lake. The steep and scenic Sagereckersteig trail leads past the Grünsee to the Funtensee. Cool beer, refreshing swim, or both?
Whether the (first) overnight stay takes place here or only at the Ingolstädter Haus depends on condition and leisure. After the Funtensee begins the Stone Sea, an approximately 13 km long and 5 km wide karstic, inhospitable, and almost waterless high plateau. The route goes westward to the Ingolstädter Haus. The second (or third) day can be a relaxed half-day tour to Hirschbichl – or can be extended arbitrarily with a summit push to the Großer Hundstod or a cheese sandwich on the Kallbrunnalm. From Hirschbichl and the Kallbrunnalm, the descent leads down the Klausbachtal on foot or by the Almerlebnisbus to Hintersee. From here, regular buses operate.
