The geographical location of Wörth am Rhein is particularly noteworthy: It lies between the foothills of the Palatinate Forest in the west and the riverbed of the Rhine in the east. The town is known for its picturesque vineyards as well as its historic buildings.

Most relevant for tourism are Wörth Castle and the Fort Germersheim fortification from the 19th century. Those interested in culture should definitely pay a visit to the Museum of European Cultures, which is also located in Germersheim.

A highlight for every gourmet is the regional cuisine with its hearty specialities such as Saumagen or liver dumplings. The Knipser winery in Laumersheim also offers a special culinary experience with its excellent wines.

For nature lovers, there are numerous hiking and cycling trails through the vineyards or along the Rhine - a real dream, especially in spring at the time of the almond blossom! Water rats can take a boat trip on the Rhine in good weather or relax on one of the many bathing beaches.

Even when the weather is bad, you don't have to miss out on activities: In Wörth am Rhein there is an indoor swimming pool as well as a climbing hall, while Germersheim scores with the Speyer Museum of Technology and the Sea Life Aquarium in Kaiserslautern.

The region is most beautiful in spring at the time of the almond blossom or in autumn when the grape harvest begins. But the towns are also very popular in summer due to the mild climate and the numerous outdoor activities.

Overall, Wörth am Rhein and Germersheim are definitely worth a visit - no matter whether you are interested in history, nature or culinary delights. A travel guide should definitely have these two places on his list!
