From Kis Rigó to Prédikálószék, passing through Sikáros
Path types
- single-track path
- normal dirt road
- a few hundred meters of asphalt
Energy distribution
The majority of the elevation is in the first half of the distance, as this is where we climb to the lookout, but it is important to save energy for one or two shorter climbs on the return as well.
Recommended period
Can be completed at any time of day and any season. Expect mud in several sections during rainy periods.
Our trail running section is supported by Dockyard. The route is recommended by the legendary Csaba Németh, Hungary's most successful active trail runner.
Author’s recommendation
- If you don't feel strong enough on the day of the run, you can naturally shorten the return by retracing the outgoing path back to the Kis Rigó restaurant.
- There is no better way to replenish burned calories than a good pancake at the finish. Here you can find the Kis Rigó Restaurant opening hours and menu.

Itinerary
- From the starting point, follow the P+ trail for five kilometers.
- We stay on the P▲ trail, which joins from the left and runs together with us for a while, until the P+ branches off to the right towards Dömös. After the lookout, turn back and stay on the P▲ trail all the way to the bed of the Király-kúti valley.
- From the Király-kúti saddle to the edge of Sikárosi meadow, follow the P trail.
- From here, the K+ trail leads to the Sikárosi forester's lodge.
- After this, we continue along the National Blue Trail K markings to the end.
Detailed description of the run
The trail behind the parking lot shows the P+ markings where we start our run. We move 600 meters on a wide, good-quality dirt road, then turn right into a narrower path between trees. The winding path about 2 meters wide among young trees is sometimes rocky and can be muddy when it rains. Eventually, we reach the peak of Tüskés Hill, indicated by rockier ground and the panorama that appears to the right.
From here, after a quick downhill, we continue climbing steadily toward the peak. The slope varies but steadily rises. Prepare for a lot of mud in rainy weather! This is evident from “alternative paths” formed along the trail through the trees. The P▲ trail joining from the left shows that we are past halfway on the path leading to the lookout. Pay close attention to this intersection as this is where we must turn off toward Király-kút on the return route!
Continuing forward, the landscape alongside the Danube appears here and there beyond the foliage. The Visegrád Castle and surrounding bays are visible. On a gravel-covered, good-quality trail, we say goodbye to the P+ trail heading toward Dömös and, following the P▲ trail, find ourselves at the Hubertusz hut junction after a minute. From here, the terrain becomes more rooty, rocky, and technical. After a short, steep climb veering right, we feel like we're in the home stretch. After a few minutes of jogging, the outline of the lookout appears, followed by the magical landscape below it.
After resting and taking enough photos, we can explore the route back in the opposite direction. At the end of a long stretch, watch for a fence running parallel on the left. At the junction, the fence turns left (P+), but we go right (P▲), continuing on a narrower and steeper trail. This is no longer a pleasantly relaxing descent; going downhill works out our thighs thoroughly. After a while, we cross the asphalt road leading from Dömör gate toward the Király-kúti saddle, then the winding path reaches an exposed section entering Király valley where the Király stream flows. We descend via a steep stairway to the stream and climb out of the bed too. At the junction, we find the Király-kúti spring opposite, and the P trail to the left continues the run.
This stretch is hard to get through with dry socks. Because of its valley character and the nearby spring, mud and puddles are common here even in dry weather. After a two-kilometer straight stretch, before Sikárosi meadow, we turn left following the K+ trail, then soon reach the asphalt road previously crossed. After a few hundred meters, proceed carefully because a faintly marked turn right leaves the asphalt. We run between a fence and the winding Bükkös stream bank before soon reaching the Sikárosi forester's lodge. We change markings before the house and can now run on the National Blue Trail route.
Prepare for slower progress here for a while! Not because of excessive elevation or rough terrain… We will simply keep stopping to admire the scenery. Fairy-tale-like, winding little stream, mossy stones, wild stream crossings, miniature waterfalls follow one another. Near the asphalt junction at "Dömör Gate - Kis Rigó - Király-kút," we turn northward and head toward Pilisszentlászló. We first proceed on a rocky path, then along sometimes exposed banks of a stream bed. Eventually, after a short section, we reach an asphalt road, from which we turn left and cross a wooden bridge. After the bridge, a short steep climb curves along while the roofs of the first houses of the settlement appear on the right. We struggle up one last steep section to again reach the parking lot in front of the restaurant.

Directions
- Walk further along the main road a few hundred meters more, then turn left onto the small forest path leading to the restaurant. (Near the village, you can shortcut by turning left onto a steep and narrow path instead of the right turn.)
Parking
- There is limited parking available in the lot in front of the restaurant and along the access road. On a busy weekend day, parking may be full here; in that case, it is worth looking for parking in the village streets.
