Route description
This special mountain bike route starts in the Mittenwald town centre with a ride to the Lautersee and Ferchensee below the Wetterstein. The so-called “Bannholzweg” begins directly behind the Ferchensee and leads up to the Wettersteinalm at 1,464 metres. Shortly before the rustic alpine pasture, the Schachenweg branches off to the right, leading riders first to the Schachentor and then to the King's Castle. After visiting the castle and refreshing yourself at the Schachenhaus, the descent from the castle back down to the Wettersteinalm follows, then past Schloss Elmau and Schloss Kranzbach to Klais. A short ascent leads up to the popular Goas-Alm before the descent through the famous Mittenwald Buckelwiesen leads back to Mittenwald.
