Historische Fußgängerzone, mit Geschäften, Cafes/Restaurants und schönen Lüftelmalerein an Häusern.

Mittenwalds „gute Stube“ ist die Fußgängerzone im Obermarkt. Dicht gedrängt schmiegen sich hier die Häuser aneinander, gekennzeichnet durch die Staffelbauweise sowie die großen Toreinfahrten und Hauseingänge, die auf die Zeit des Bozner Marktes (1487 - 1679) zurückzuführen sind, als der Markt wichtiger Warenumschlagplatz zwischen Venedig und Augsburg war. Im Hintergrund die Kath. Pfarrkirche St. Peter und Paul, die mit ihrer reichen Bemalung des Turmes wohl einzigartig in Bayern ist. Die vielen Lüftlmalereien an den Hausfassaden zeigen biblische Geschichten und erzählen von Reisenden, die sich im Laufe der Jahrhunderte hier bewegt haben. Heute ist der Obermarkt beliebter Treffpunkt unserer Gäste, eine Flaniermeile mit vielen Geschäften, Cafes und Restaurants, die zum Bummeln und Verweilen einladen.
