Im Niederwerdenfelser Land befand sich früher eine mehr oder weniger zusammenhängende Buckelflur. Diese geomorphologische Besonderheit des alpinen Bereiches wurde teilweise durch Einebnung zerstört. Rund um Mittenwald existieren heute dennoch die größten Buckelwiesen-Restbestände im gesamten Alpenraum.

Mit dem Projekt "Bayerns schönste Geotope" des Landesamts für Umwelt (LfU) und des Umweltministeriums wurden 100 wichtige Geotope in Bayern der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt. Eines dieser 100 Geotope sind die Buckelwiesen bei Mittenwald. Alle Standorte, so auch dieser, sind mit Informationstafeln ausgestattet. Für jedes Geotop ist ein Faltblatt erhältlich.

Die Buckelwiesen sind geschützte Biotope und Lebensraum gefährdeter Arten. Bitte bleiben Sie auf den Wegen!

Directions

Vom Autobahnende der A95 bei Eschenlohe der B2 Richtung Innsbruck ca. 31 km bis zur Ausfahrt Mittenwald-Nord folgen. Nach ca. 2,5 km kurz vor dem Ortsanfang von Mittenwald rechts abbiegen Richtung Klais und weiter bis zum Schmalsee. Hier wieder rechts ab und den Hinweisschildern Richtung Jugendherberge folgend durch die Buckelwiesen.
