The route runs through flat or slightly hilly terrain. Between the Inn Valley and Salzburg, we have to overcome some climbs but can enjoy nice descents in return. We mostly ride on bike paths and low-traffic side roads, mostly paved. Some short sections (never longer than one to two kilometers) must also be covered on moderately trafficked roads.

Our first stage takes us along the Salzach on the Tauern Cycle Path to Oberndorf (Silent Night Chapel). After passing the picturesque old town of Laufen on the other side of the Salzach, we head inland to the warmest bathing lake in Upper Bavaria, the Waginger See. Via Nussdorf, we reach the Chiemsee.
Stage 2: Chiemsee – Wasserburg (approx. 65 km)
From Chieming, we cycle via Seebruck to Seeon, whose monastery Mozart visited several times and where he also composed. From Seeon, we return to the Chiemsee again up to Breitbrunn and continue via Amerang to Wasserburg. The famous artist often took breaks here while traveling.
Stage 3: Wasserburg – Kufstein (approx. 67 km) ;
The Inn accompanies us all day on our stage to the Austrian town of Kufstein, the "Pearl of Tyrol." We can enjoy the ride over Rosenheim into the Tyrolean country almost effortlessly.
Stage 4: Kufstein – Kirchdorf/ St. Johann in Tirol (approx. 45 km)
The first few kilometers we cycle along the Inn before heading over Ebbs into the slightly hilly Kaiserwinkl region of Tyrol. We pass the town of Walchsee and cycle via Waidach, past Kössen, through the impressive Tyrolean mountain landscape.
Stage 5: Kirchdorf/St. Johann in Tirol–Bad Reichenhall (approx. 48 km)
Today our route first leads to Waidring and then to Lofer. Both places were again stations on Mozart's travels southward. From Lofer, we cycle along the Saalach on a wild romantic cycle path via Unken to Bad Reichenhall. On his last stay in Salzburg in 1780, Mozart took an excursion to this well-known spa town.
Stage 6: Bad Reichenhall – Berchtesgaden (approx. 48 km)
In Berchtesgaden, a relaxed stop at the spa is possible. A trip to the nearby idyllic Königssee is also possible before we roll back into Salzburg and spend a last evening here.
