The Mindeltal Cycle Path runs from the Allgäu to the Danube. From the Mindel spring near Ronsberg to the Mindel mouth into the Danube, it is about 85 km. Apart from a few larger climbs in the source area, the route runs comfortably downhill along the river course towards the Danube. A beautiful two-day route with a stage location in Mindelheim for families with older children.

At Marienplatz in Mindelheim with its beautiful fountain, the start of the second stage of the Mindeltal Cycle Path is located. Here, at the intersection, we turn left into Kornstraße. We follow it to Teckstraße, cross it, and immediately continue cycling into Westernacherstraße. We follow it for 500 m and then turn right into Birkenweg. At the first fork, we keep left and continue on Birkenweg. We now ride straight ahead, past the sewage treatment plant, and leave Mindelheim on the cycle path.

After passing Lohhof on the left, we reach a fork. A natural pond invites you to rest. We turn left and immediately before the Mindel turn right again. We now ride along the Eastern Mindel to the next fork, here keep left. We follow the street, cross the railway track (caution, don't go faster than 20 km/h!), and arrive in Hausen. We do not enter the town but turn left before the Mindel, cycling along the edge of the town on the cycle path. We cross the Mindel again, pass the tennis courts, and enter the market town of Pfaffenhausen. We take the first left and initially follow Industriestraße, then continue straight ahead following Blumenstraße and then Mindelbergstraße. Watch out, here you can already see the stork's nest, a sign also points it out. We continue to follow the street layout and cross Mindelheimer Straße. After Kirchplatz, we turn right into Marktgrafstraße and shortly after left into Mühlstraße. We follow it until just before the edge of town, then turn right and cross the Mindel. We follow the cycle path. After crossing Krebsbach, we turn left. We enjoy the path through agricultural landscape, past Pfaffenhausener Moos and stay on the cycle path along the Mindel to Bronnerlehe. We pass the village and continue straight on. We cross Weißbach and ride past some ponds. On the right, we see the market town Kirchheim. If you have time, you should make a detour to this pretty, well-maintained town with its impressive Fugger castle and the famous cedar hall. On our route, however, we turn sharply left. Before Weißbach, we then turn right again. Shortly before Hasberg, we turn right and cycle along the right bank of the Mindel to Hasberger Straße, turn right, ride a short piece to then immediately turn left onto the cycle path. At the next intersection, we turn left and immediately right again, continuing along the right bank of the Mindel. We meet the Flossach, cross this small river, and cycle further along the Mindel bank.

Soon Mindelzell lies to our left. We stay on our cycle path and can admire a Mindel that has not yet been straightened and remains in its original condition. Our destination lies ahead: Thannhausen. You leave the Mindel town north of the B 300 via Mortain-Platz, ride past Stadlerstift to Wiesenstraße, cross the Mindel while keeping left and its western bank. Soon a bypass road is crossed, and it continues to Münsterhausen and Burtenbach. Only then do you turn left, soon right again between two gravel pits, northwards to Straße nach Kemnat. This is crossed, and shortly afterwards on the cycle path again, the Mindel is crossed to "Lußweg." Turn left into it, then go straight north to the old Humprechtsmühle. A paved road soon follows. Turn left into it, almost returning to the Mindel. To the right uphill goes to the Eberstall little castle.

If you stay on the Mindeltal Cycle Path, before the bridge you turn right to the north and arrive at a beautiful bathing pond at Schönenberg-Jettingen street. Straight ahead it goes into the town. To the right shows the castle. The cyclist leaves the market on the road towards Wettenhausen, turns north at the bus company Dirr, and after passing through the industrial area comes to Jettinger bypass road. It is crossed, soon the motorway as well, and then it goes past the rest area into Burgau. The path remains always close to the Mindel, or you ride left upwards into the town center.

Leaving the town, it goes through the industrial zone and onto the roadside cycle path to Mindelaltheim. The name is misleading; we are not yet at the destination. At a poultry farm, turn left to the railway line, then continue north. Soon the cycle path leads left to "Lüßhof" – a more modern industrial company – and from there the tour is identical to the Kammeltal Cycle Path coming from the west to Offingen. The Danube cycle hiking trail is then not far. To the Mindel mouth, you ride through Bahnhofstraße into the Hirschbach industrial area and then along the road to Gundremmingen. At Raiffeisenbank, turn left into the settlement, underpass the bypass road, then cross the railway track to the right. At the "Auwaldstadion" sign, turn right, then continue straight on this path through a short section of forest to the factory canal. Along this to the left to the Danube – follow it southwards to the Mindel mouth. The return journey takes the same route along the Danube and the factory canal.
