The stage from Komárno to Radvaň nad Dunajom follows one of the quietest and most atmospheric stretches of the Slovak Danube, where ancient history, riverside villages, and long, open floodplains shape the journey. Leaving Komárno, the trail heads through Harčáš, a small settlement on the edge of the river’s broad meanders, before continuing to Iža, home to the remains of the Roman fort Kelemantia, once part of the Limes Romanus guarding the empire’s northern frontier. From here, the route moves through peaceful agricultural land toward Patince, known for its thermal springs and the relaxed rhythm of life along the Danube’s side‑arms. Passing Žitava, the landscape becomes even more rural, with orchards, levees, and quiet riverbanks guiding the way. The final approach to Radvaň nad Dunajom follows the wide, shimmering river, where scattered farmsteads and open fields create a sense of calm continuity. This stage blends Roman heritage, spa traditions, and the serene beauty of the Danube’s southern Slovak floodplain.

Roadbook
Leaving Komárno, the trail crosses the Váh and returns to the Danube plain. Near Iža lie the remains of the Roman fortress of Kelemantia, built on the opposite bank from the legionary base of Brigetio. Its earthworks and foundations remain visible. In the village, the Kelemantia Museum preserves finds from the fort and surrounding settlements. Outside of the village, stands a replica Roman watchtower and the Turkish bridge, a small masonry structure from the Ottoman period. The route continues along the river through Patince and Žitava. At Žitava, a memorial marks the Peace of Zsitvatorok, concluded here in 1606 between the Habsburg and Ottoman Empires. The stage ends at Radvaň nad Dunajom, where a model floating mill is on display at Pension Mlyn, recalling the mills that once stood along the Danube.
