A challenging premium route with five rustic dining options, the Pfälzerwald huts, which are mostly open on weekends, and great viewpoints.
The Pfälzer Hüttentour starts at the parking lot in Albersweiler-St. Johann. Through Schlossstraße and the vineyards towards Frankweiler, the yellow hut marking leads to the Ringelsberg Hut, whose terrace offers a great view over the Southern Wine Route. Once downhill into the Hainbach Valley, then uphill again towards Gleisweiler, the path leads past the sanatorium to Luitpoldplatz and further up to St. Anna Chapel via Burrweiler. There is also the St. Anna Hut.
After a short time, you reach the Trifelsblick Hut. From there, it continues over Dreimärker to the Landauer Hut and to the Orensfelsen, a breathtaking viewpoint over the Queichtal. Now it’s only downhill, past the Naturfreundehaus Kiesbuckel, back to St. Johann.
If the tour is too long, you can instead choose the northern hut route or southern hut route visiting three of the five huts each. These routes are about 11-12 km long. If the parking lot at St. Johann is full, please use parking spaces within the municipality of Albersweiler, e.g., at Pfarrer Hamm Platz or at Löwensteinhalle.

Safety information
General information:
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may fall or branches might drop even afterward. Particularly under adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you think certain trail sections are impassable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting groups on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where trails are closed, and we might not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.

Roadbook
Our hike starts at the Albersweiler-St. Johann parking lot and first leads us along the edge of the district to the left through Schlossstraße. We follow the brown hut symbol on a yellow background and walk past the Hotel Berghof between forest and vineyards to Frankweiler. At the entrance to Frankweiler, we turn left into the forest.
From here, it goes uphill to the Ringelsberg Hut, downhill into the Hainbach Valley, and on to St. Anna Chapel. We cross the Hainbach in front of a large brick estate. Behind it, we continue to the right along the foot of Kittenberg through a lime tree avenue into the spa town of Gleisweiler. There we reach the sanatorium on Badstraße and, after a right curve, turn left. Ascending, we walk past the sanatorium grounds into the forest to Luitpoldplatz, where we keep right.
The path first leads us north, then bending to the right through the forest to St. Anna Chapel. The chapel, located high above the Rhine plain on a ridge of the Teufelsberg, has attracted pilgrims for centuries. After enjoying the view, we walk a few meters to the St. Anna Hut and turn left there. The path then leads us through dense greenery to the scenic Trifelsblick Hut.
An information board explains the landmarks in our field of vision. We can also see the Orensberg, which we will climb during the tour. However, first we continue on the path to the junction “Dreimärker” and to the Landauer Hut.
Counterclockwise, we go from the Landauer Hut around the Orensberg. We pass the viewpoint on the Orens rock and then follow the well-known marking downhill towards the Naturfreundehaus Kiesbuckel and Albersweiler-St. Johann, our starting point for the hike.
