Pfälzer Hüttentour - Short north route with 3 huts
A short version of the well-known premium route with stops at three of the Palatinate Forest huts, which are mostly open on weekends, and great viewpoints.
This short version of the Pfälzer Hüttentour starts at the Lindenallee car park in Gleisweiler. We follow the path past the sanatorium to Luitpoldplatz and onwards to St. Anna Chapel via Burrweiler, a Roman Catholic pilgrimage church from the 16th century. Next door is also the St. Anna Hut, our first refreshment stop. Shortly thereafter, we reach the Trifelsblick Hut. From there, we continue via the Dreimärker junction to the Landauer Hut. From here, we leave the premium route and shorten the Pfälzer Hüttentour. Instead, we hike along the Hainbach back into the valley. Along the way, we pass the historic forest shower of Gleisweiler, the only remaining facility of this kind in Germany. It was built in the mid-19th century as a spa facility and operates depending on the weather from early May to the end of October.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Always behave thoughtfully, kindly, and considerately towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Respect nature, do not destroy plants, and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
- Remember a garbage bag for on the way and take your waste home with you.
- Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
- Observe all path closures for your own safety.
- Park only in designated parking spaces. Leave room for emergency vehicles and agricultural machinery.
- Please give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.
We, your fellow humans and nature, thank you!

Roadbook
We start in Gleisweiler on Lindenallee and walk towards the sanatorium. After a right turn, we turn left. Ascending, we hike past the sanatorium grounds into the forest to Luitpoldplatz, where we keep right.
The path leads us first north, then describing a right curve through the forest to the St. Anna Chapel. The chapel, located high above the Rhine plain on a spur of the Teufelsberg, has attracted pilgrims for centuries. After enjoying the view, we walk a few meters to the St. Anna Hut and turn left there. The path now leads us through the dense greenery to the scenic Trifelsblick Hut.
From there, we continue to the Dreimärker junction and the Landauer Hut. From here, a detour to the Neuscharfeneck castle ruins is recommended, which is only 700 m from the hut and offers a great view over the Palatinate Forest, the Dernbach valley, the Rhine plain, and further castles and ruins.
Here we now branch off from the Pfälzer Hüttentour route and choose a shorter path instead. We turn sharply left and walk down to the Hainbach. We follow this into the Hainbach valley to the Papiermühle. On the way, we pass the historic forest shower of Gleisweiler, a refreshing stop for brave cold showerers. On reaching the Papiermühle, we keep left, then it is only a few hundred meters back to Lindenallee and our starting point at the car park.
