Monastery tour

The tour starts at the market with a view of the historic town hall. Walk past the town hall/council tavern on the right and turn right into Lorenzstraße and immediately left into Augustinergasse. You are now walking directly towards the former princely school "St. Augustin". Upon reaching Klosterstraße, turn right. After the monastery church, turn left through the archway towards the Mulde river. Upon reaching the path, turn right and follow the route. At the end of the path, go through the floodgate and arrive at Mühlstraße. Turn right and after a few meters you will reach the large mill/rye mill. Continue past the weir, suspension bridge, and Aline Park. At the end of Colditzer Weg, you will reach Colditzer Straße. Cross it and after a few meters turn right into Harthgrund. Immediately turn left over the small bridge and follow the path. Cross the Colditzer Straße again. Upon arriving at Nimbschen, turn right. On the left side, you will now see the Nimbschen monastery ruins. The monastery park with display boards invites you to take a break. After the monastery tavern, turn left onto the forest path to the ferry (closed Monday/Tuesday). To call the ferryman, ring the bell! After crossing with the ferry, continue straight along the ferry path. Follow the ferry path which leads directly past the water wheel of the Watermill Museum. Then turn right and slightly left onto Dorfstraße. You will pass directly by the fortified church. Further along, you will see the Höfgen leisure and scout home on the left. Follow Dorfstraße going left. At the next intersection, turn left onto the ferry path. At the end of the path, turn right onto the Path of Stones. This hiking trail with sculptures by renowned artists runs parallel to the Mulde back to Grimma. Passing the Ship Mill Museum, after some time you will pass Rabenstein. Enjoy the view of the Mulde landscape briefly. The further route leads you through the city forest onto the promenade path to the Pöppelmann stone bridge. Pass this and turn left into Brückenstraße. You reach your starting point at the market.
