The Yellow 70, one of the long-established challenge hikes, includes a demanding 50 km section. Similar to its bigger sibling, this route also starts at night and follows the yellow markings until Hűvösvölgy.

    difficult
    Distance 50.3 km
    14:00 h
    1,578 m
    1,421 m
    559 m
    111 m

The atmosphere of the 50-kilometer route starting with a night hike is made special by the lights of Esztergom, the starry sky over Hegymeg, and headlamps scanning through the darkness of the forest. After dawn, the panoramas play the main role: Fehér Hill, Zsíros Hill, Calvary Hill, Újlaki Hill all offer wonderful perspectives of the Pilis and Budai Mountains landscape. The route passes through iconic locations such as Pilisszentlélek, Pilis saddle, Klastrompuszta, Pilisvörösvár, Mouflon watering place, Kötők bench, Alsó-Jegenye valley, Virágos saddle, Hűvösvölgy.

During the walk, you encounter natural values as well as cultural sights, but the time limit does not allow much opportunity for sightseeing (must finish by 14:00). With good strength and time management, it is a comfortably achievable route, but this “comfort” mainly depends on your own physical condition. Those who have only previously walked 20-30 kilometer distances are advised to start one of the Yellow challenge hike's sections: Yellow 40, 30É, 20A, 20B, 15, 10.

The route is part of the Ötpróba competition series, the TTT Cup, the University hiking series, and the Cartographia Cup.

Start location: Esztergom railway station, at the end of the platforms. The night start is aligned with the arriving train schedules.

Finish: Hűvösvölgy, Children's Railway reception building

    Distance, elevation gain: 50.3 km, 1578 m

Time limit: none, but must reach finish by 14:00

    Awards: Certificate, badge

Entry fee: 3500 HUF, pre-registration discount available until April 26, 2024 (Friday)
