The historic bridge town of Wolfsberg is a wonderful start - a cultural highlight! The charming town was built at the foot of Wolfsberg Castle at an important crossing of the Lavant River. From Wolfsberg train station, we stroll through contemporary urban space across the historic Lavant Bridge into the pretty old town. Proud town houses, the High Square ... bear witness to the prosperity of trade and crafts. We stroll along the old Schlossstraße through the castle park up to the exotic Wolfsberg Castle - a Tudor jewel! In 1846, Hugo Henckel von Donnersmarck had the old castle transformed into this English Gothic Tudor-style palace. After the castle park, the trail gently descends through a settlement to the castle stream. Now hiking bliss begins: the route leads through wonderful mixed mountain forest on quiet feeder roads and forest paths up to the Henckel von Donnersmarck mausoleum. Afterwards, a sublime (mountain) farming landscape opens up. We hike along the valley flank throughshady woods, across panoramic meadows and along the edge of the forest with a magnificent view of the valley. The final treat: the walk through the atmospheric vineyards of the Lenzbauer. This Carinthian slow food business revives the centuries-old wine-growing tradition of the Lavant Valley. Now we walk downhill on a quiet panoramic road - the Lavanttal lies at our feet. After the short Weißenbach ditch, we climb slightly uphill to a small plateau in front of Silberberg Castle. Once again, the view opens up into the expanse of the Lavanttal valley. Finally, we reach the main road in the valley through rural settlements. Wolfsberg Reding railroad station is now not far away.
