Between Lake Constance and Kempten in the Allgäu lies the market town of Oberstaufen at the foot of the Allgäu Prealps in the Bavarian-Swabian region. Most vacationers come because of the beautiful, pre-alpine landscape, the many still-living traditions, and the joie de vivre, which is expressed in sociability and hospitality. Oberstaufen is the center of the cross-border Nagelfluh Chain Nature Park and one of three premium hiking destinations in Germany. As a Schroth health resort and the place with the most wellness hotels in Bavaria, you can not only be active here but also do something good for your health or just let your soul unwind.
In summer, the nearby mountain peaks, hills, meadows, and gorges between 647 and 1,834 meters invite you to hikes and mountain tours, as well as extensive cycling and mountain biking tours. On the new MounTeens detective trail at Hündle, even children get really excited about hiking. In winter, four ski areas offer plenty of opportunities for young and old to have fun in the snow: skiing, ski touring, winter or snowshoe hiking, sledding, ice skating, and much more are available. Cross-country skiers can choose from nine trails with different levels of difficulty.
A special feature of the region is the many cozy alpine huts. It is hearty and sociable here, and typical Allgäu specialties such as Kässpatzen, meat from local animals, juicy dumplings, and homemade Allgäu mountain cheese are served.
A special offer for guests is the guest card with Oberstaufen PLUS. In summer, you can decide daily with this card: take the train up the Hochgrat, go to the Imberg or Hündle, where you can additionally use the summer toboggan run. Or you go to the Aquaria adventure pool or rent an e-bike. For vacationers in one of the approximately 300 Oberstaufen PLUS businesses, these leisure services are even free. A ride with the guest bus, a visit to the high ropes course, the mini-golf course, or the local history museum are also included in the value-added card. In winter, this guest card also serves as a ski pass for all Oberstaufen ski areas. Twelve Oberstaufen PLUS golf businesses additionally offer free golf on five golf courses.
