A circular hike that leads on the outbound route via the Hochsiedel Alpe. On the meadows around the Alpe, a blue-white sea of wild crocus blooms shines for a short time after the snow melts. Further along, the Hündlekopf is circled in a large arc. The path back to the mountain station leads over the summit of the Hündle.
We start at the mountain station of the Hündlebahn. Heading east, we follow the hiking trail, which slowly passes the alpine dairy Obere Hündle and continues to Hochsiedel. Shortly thereafter begins the section that in spring, directly after the snow melt, turns into a blue-white sea of flowers. Then thousands of crocuses stretch their heads to the sun for a few days, enchanting many visitors. The hike continues above the Hochsiedel Alpe past the mountain station of the Hoher Teufellift. There, a path leads down towards Moosalpe. Those who wish can stop for a break there during a detour. Our path leads directly westward over the Fuchslöcher onto the forest road, which passes the Ochsenschwand Alpe towards Buchenegg. At the next junction, turning right, a new path leads to the alpine dairy Bärenschwand and continues uphill to the summit cross of the Hündle. From there, it is only a few hundred meters back to the starting point.
Author’s recommendation
The route passes by two alpine dairies (Hündle and Bärenschwand), which produce their own cheese.
