A Keleti-Mátra egyik leghangulatosabb részén, az Ilona-völgyben fakad az oldott szénsavat tartalmazó ásványvíz, amelyet már a régi időktől kezdve használtak a helyiek: az italozás utáni kiszáradás legfőbb ellenszere volt.

Az 1925-ben feltárt csevice vizét nem vizsgálták be gazdasági célból, a sok évtizedes tapasztalat szerint a feltörő víz jó hatással van az emésztésre. Igaz, ahogy minden orvossággal, ezzel is mértékkel kell bánni. A fakalodás kút majd' 10 méteres mélységéből tekerővel húzhatjuk fel a vizet, ha meg szeretnénk ízlelni. A vödörrel fel lehet tölteni a kút szélén található kis bádogtartályt, amiből forrásszerűen csorog ki a víz.

A forrás patakparti égerek és öreg bükkök árnyékában fakad. A kút körül remek pihenőhelyet találunk esőbeállóval, padokkal és asztalokkal, valamint tűzrakó hellyel.

A vulkán hagyatéka

A csevicék a terület igazi különlegességei. Bár Magyarország változatos földtani felépítésével és medence jellegével bővelkedik ásványvizekben, azért az itthon is kuriózum, hogy oldott, természetes szénsavtartalommal fakadjanak a földből. 

A szláv eredetű csevice eredeti jelentése "savanyú". Tipikusan kénes szagát és ízét a pirit ásvány mállásából kapja. A csevice források mindenütt az üledékes kőzetek és a vulkáni tömbök találkozásánál törnek a felszínre. Míg az üledékek töredezettebbek, porózusak, így jobban közlekedik és felhalmozódik bennük a víz, addig a magmás kőzetek megálljt parancsolnak, és a mélyből a felszín felé irányítják az áramlásukat. Így a hosszú idő és út alatt, amit az üledékekben töltött a víz, nagy mennyiségű ásványi anyagot képes felvenni. Ettől olyannyira értékes lesz, hogy a parádsasvári forrást palackozzák is gyógyászati céllal.
