Saxon-Bavarian urban network: Bayreuth - Hof 1b/4
The Saxon-Bavarian urban network connects historical commonalities with its bike routes and builds bridges between cities and regions. Our route suggestions use existing and marked cycle paths.
The second part of the Bayreuth - Hof stage starts in Stammbach. First, it goes via Weißdorf (water castle) to Förmitz. Here, the picturesque Förmitz reservoir invites you to one last stop before reaching Schwarzenbach a. d. S. (Jean-Paul trail) and Oberkotzau, and finally Hof.
The town center of Hof is characterized by classical facades and buildings from the Gründerzeit. In the generously designed pedestrian zone, you encounter a guild that exists only in Hof: the "Wärschtlamänner", who offer hot sausages from charcoal-heated brass kettles. Worth seeing are the St. Michael's Church and the Bavarian Vogtland Museum. Another gem is the Theresienstein, one of the most beautiful landscape parks in Germany. The park includes, besides a picturesque Art Nouveau building (summer restaurant), a botanical garden and the zoo with a geological garden. In the south of the town, the Untreusee lake offers a variety of recreational opportunities. The best-known cultural institutions are the Hof symphony orchestra, the Hof theater, and the International Hof Film Days.

Roadbook
This bike tour is not marked with its own logo. The bike tour itself runs on existing cycle paths as well as lightly trafficked roads and is also easy to cycle in the opposite direction.
From Stammbach train station, we join the Main-Saale cycle path and head towards Oelschnitz. We cycle via Querenbach and circle the Weißenbach. Via Löst and Kemnitz, we continue to follow the Main-Saale cycle path. In Kleinlosnitz, we leave it at the Upper Franconian Farm Museum: Here, we turn left and immediately right again, passing the museum complex. From here, we follow the cycle path HO 01 (From lake to lake). Continuing on cycle path HO 01 through Weißdorf, we reach Förmitz, where the path leads us to the right of the Förmitz reservoir. We see this reservoir to our left until Völkenreuth. After the village of Baumersreuth, we arrive at Schwarzenbach a. d. Saale. Here, we change cycle paths for the last time: Shortly after the railway crossing on the entrance to Schwarzenbach, we automatically join the Saale cycle path. We now follow this path until the end of our stage. We can enjoy the view of the river and the Ökopark Hertelsleite while cycling through Schwarzenbach. Then it continues via Fattigau, Oberkotzau, Neudöhlau until we finally reach Hof, always cycling along the Saale riverbank. To reach the train station, we leave the Saale cycle path at St. John's Church, cross the Saale by ferry, and cycle straight towards the train station, following the signs to the station.
