Már az erdőből nézve is izgalmas látvány a Sólyom-kő együttese: a fák közt sötét sziklagólemeket, alattuk kisebb-nagyobb darabokból álló kőtörmeléket látunk. E szirt egy úgynevezett krioplanációs szikla, azaz a fagy okozta elegyengetés egyik szüleménye. A pleisztocénban, a kb. 10 ezer éve véget ért jégkorban hidegebb és magasabb hőmérsékletű időszakok váltották egymást. A hideg periódusokban, fagy körüli hőmérsékleten folyamatos volt a fagyás-olvadás okozta aprózódás: a lemezes szerkezetű kőzet repedéseibe befolyó víz megfagy, jéggé alakul, ezáltal térfogata megnő, és tágítja a repedéseket, így apró darabokra szabdalja a kőzetet. Az évmilliós léptékű folyamat eredményeként a hegyoldalak nyers kőzetfelületekkel tűzdelt részein sziklafalak és -tornyok keletkeztek, lábuknál pedig az aláhulló darabokból felgyűlt, kiterjedt törmeléklejtőket fedezhetünk fel. A folyamat ma is tart, csak éppen jóval kisebb intenzitás jellemzi a magasabb hőmérséklet miatt.

Parking
- A falu szélén hagyhatjuk autónkat, de Hejce központjában is találunk pár parkolóhelyet.
