A ház vadászházként üzemel. Az előtte elterülő tisztás végében tábla jelzi a magasságot (590 m). A rét túlsó végén a Hernád völgyét és a Cserehát apró domborulatait láthatjuk. Az erdészeti út házzal átellenes oldalán kellemes, árnyas pihenőhelyet találunk. Mellette egy női alak szobrából tör elő az iható, hideg forrásvíz. A ház mellett halad el a Rákóczi-pirostúra, illetve a közelben található a gyönyörű panorámájáról híres Sólyom-kő sziklaalakzata. A Hejce felől érkező erdészeti makadámúton könnyen megközelíthető.

A közeli Hejce egy hegylábi zsákfalu, ennek megfelelően nincs elkényeztetve tömegközlekedési kapcsolatokkal. Mindössze napi néhány busz érkezik Hidasnémeti, Vilmány, illetve Novajidrány felől. Hidasnémeti és Novajidrány a Miskolc-Hidasnémeti vasútvonalon, míg Vilmány a Szerencs-Hidasnémeti mellékvonalon érhető el.
