A Fehér-kő értékei
A Fehér-kő hegyoldalában a kilátón kívül két régi betonmedence romját, illetve felhagyott tárókat és egykori meddőhányókat is találunk, amelyek szorosan kapcsolódnak Parádfürdő, illetve annak mai kórháza történelméhez. A helyiek már korábban felfedezték a Bél Mátyás által is lejegyzett Fehér-kő „sósvizét”, magas timsótartalmát azonban csak 1763-ban mutatta ki dr. Markhót Ferenc vármegyei orvos, aki részletes vizsgálatokat végzett.
A többek között vérzéscsillapításra és festékkészítésre is alkalmazható vegyületet a század végén el is kezdték fejteni, megnyitva hazánk első timsóbányáját. A gyógyhatású vízre ezzel egyidőben fürdő is épült: ezt tekinthetjük a mai kórház elődjének. A 19. század közepén megkezdődött a hegy (jellemzően réz)ércének kitermelése, ezzel párhuzamosan az egyre kevésbé jövedelmező timsóbányászat véget ért; de mivel a gyógyfürdőnek továbbra is szüksége volt a timsóra, 1865-66-ban kiépítették a Felső- és az Alsó-Timsós-tavat, amelyben az anyag kilúgzása és tárolása történt meg. Bár indusztriális célból hozták létre őket, esztétikus látványt nyújtottak, így a kórház vendégeinek kedvelt kirándulóhelyévé váltak. Mára csak a medencék romjai, illetve az ércbányászat tárói és meddőhányói maradtak meg a Fehér-kő hegyoldalában.
