Alattunk Recsk terül el, dél felé a Mátra hátai húzódnak. Nyugatnak fordulva a recski Ércbánya lakótelep meddőhányója emelkedik ki a Parádi-Tarna völgyéből, ami szintén a környéki ércbányászat intenzitását jelzi. Mögötte a parádfürdői Fehér-kő és annak kilátója vehető ki.
Csak óvatosan!
A Nagy-kőre felvezető csapás a Kál-Kápolna–Kisterenye-vasútvonal síneiről nyílik, amelyen 2007 óta szünetel a személyforgalom. Nyersanyagszállítás azonban a mai napig zajlik: a Mátra fái, illetve 2023 óta a Recsk feletti Valéria-bércen megnyílt bánya andezitje is főleg vasúton hagyja el kitermelésének helyszínét. Úgyhogy legyünk óvatosak a síneken való közlekedéssel!

- A Recsk, OTP buszmegállóból, illetve a Recsk-Parádfürdő vasútállomás melletti parkolóból a vasúti síneken induljunk nyugati irányba, majd térjünk a Parádi-Tarna hídja után balra induló jelzetlen csapásra (620 m, 20 m szintemelkedés)!
