Az erdők védettek és Natura 2000 területen állnak, állami tulajdonban vannak. Az erdőrészletek többségében nincs hagyományos faanyagtermelés, ahol igen, ott vágásos üzemmódot alkalmaznak. A hegygerincen zömmel kocsánytalan és csertölgy, a szurdokban a bükk adja az erdő vázát.
