Legmarkánsabb eleme a Miskolc 140 jelű erdőtag, amely három hatalmas, egyenként 25-30 hektáros erdőrészletből áll, és amely a völgy dél-délnyugatra néző oldalát teljes egészében magában foglalja. Ez a több mint 100 hektáros folt az egész Bükk egyik, tölgyesként pedig a legnagyobb egybefüggő idős erdője. Az Erdőrezervátum Program kutatásai szerint közel 60 m³ holtfa jellemzi hektáronként.
