Balatonkeresztúron mindössze 1 km hosszú partszakasz van, ennek egy kis, nyugati részén terül el a szabadstrand. A Vitorlás utca végében fekvő strand partszakasza gondozott, fűvel borított terület, ahol árnyékos és napfényes foltok váltják egymást.
A kisgyerekes családok által is kedvelt sekély vízbe egy nádas szegélyezte stégen át jutunk be. A strandról pazar kilátás nyílik az északi partra.

Public transport
- Mivel a vonatállomás túl messze van, tömegközlekedéssel a legegyszerűbben busszal közelíthetjük meg a szabadstrandot. A helyközi járatokról a Balatonmáriafürdő, Vilma utca megállónál kell leszállni.

- A buszmegállótól néhány 10 méterre nyugat felé nyílik a Vitorlás utca, amelynek a végén találjuk a strandot.
Parking
- A strand előtt kis parkolót találunk, de a környező utcákban is tudunk parkolni.
