Von 2016-2018 wurde die Seethalerhütte neu errichtet, dies war notwendig da die Bausubstanz der alten Hütte in den letzten Jahren massive Schäden erlitt. Finanziert wurde das Bauprojekt unter anderem durch eine Spendenaktion.

Die Seethalerhütte am Dachstein liegt auf 2.740m und ist damit die höchstgelegene Schutzhütte Oberösterreichs. Umgeben vom ewigen Eis des Dachsteingletschers, liegt die Hütte in einem atemberaubenden Umfeld und bietet einen wunderschönen Ausblick auf ein Bergpanorama, das vom Triglav bis zum Großglockner und im Norden bis zum Böhmerwald reicht.
