Welcome to the Eifelhütte of the DAV Düsseldorf Section!
The Düsseldorf Eifelhütte is located above Blens, in the Rur Valley and within sight of the Eifel Nature Park. The Eifelhütte is owned by the German Alpine Club (DAV) – Düsseldorf Section. It is a self-catering lodge that accommodates 47 people, plus two emergency beds.
The basement has three rooms, each with four bunk beds (8 sleeping spots each). The ground floor has one room with two bunk beds (4 sleeping spots). The attic has 5 mattress dorms and fourteen beds, spread across several rooms. On all floors, every mattress and pillow is equipped with a protective cover. Each sleeping area has a wool blanket. For overnight stays, please bring a sleeping bag and/or covers for pillows and mattresses.
Two common rooms offer plenty of space. A projection screen in the large common room allows for presentations using a projector. The room cannot be darkened during the day. The kitchen is fully equipped with two stovetops and corresponding ovens, a microwave, two coffee makers, and two electric kettles. Pots, cookware, dishes, and silverware are provided.
The Düsseldorf Eifelhütte is a self-catering cabin in accordance with DAV guidelines. Shopping options are available in Nideggen and Heimbach; bread and rolls can also be purchased in the nearby neighborhoods of Abenden and Hausen.
The Eifelhütte has benches right in front of the building, along with an outdoor grill and a small lawn. Additional (beer) tables and benches are available. The parking lot in front of the Eifelhütte can accommodate about six cars.
Our Eifelhütte is heated with wood; the stove is located in the basement. The wood stored outside is intended solely for fueling the stove.
The forest begins right behind the house. The exterior walls of the Eifelhütte feature climbing routes at higher difficulty levels.
The Eifelhütte is a great starting point for hikers, climbers, and seminars. Families with children will find this to be an ideal and affordable place to stay. It’s the perfect base for hikes and excursions to a wide variety of destinations in the Eifel Nature Park. Climbing maps for the crags near Nideggen can be purchased at the ARAL gas station in Nideggen (at the roundabout); access is limited and permitted only with this climbing map.
Accommodations at the Eifelhütte are primarily intended for members of the DAV.
