High in the Ötztal Alps, at an altitude of 2,759 meters, sits the Braunschweiger Hütte. It is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers from all over the world and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
The hut is located on the E5 long-distance hiking trail and is therefore an ideal base for multi-day tours. But the Braunschweiger Hütte is also a worthwhile destination for day trippers.
Arrival and location
The Braunschweiger Hütte can be reached from several places. The shortest route is a 2.5-hour climb from the Mittelberg parking lot in the Pitztal valley.
Alternatively, you can take a cab or chairlift to the Rifflseehütte and hike from there to the Braunschweiger Hütte in 1.5 hours.
The hut is open from mid-June to the end of September. During this time, it is advisable to reserve a place to sleep, especially at weekends and in the high season.
