The Petersenspitze is a 3,472 m high firn pyramid high above the Taschachhaus. The northwest face is a challenging high mountain climbing objective. We summit from the Mittelbergjoch and reach it via the rugged Taschachferner. With sufficient glacier experience, an easily accessible peak. However, the length of the route from the Braunschweigerhütte must not be underestimated.
Author’s recommendation
On the rugged Taschachferner, never travel as a pair. Early departure from the Braunschweigerhütte is necessary, as the route is very long.

Roadbook
From the Braunschweigerhütte 2,759 m, we follow the signposts to Wildspitze. After about 40 minutes, we reach the Mittelbergferner, crossing it on the existing markers. (Difficult in poor visibility.) We reach the valley station of the chairlift at 2,688 m to the Hinterer Brunnenkogel. Continue along the lift line until we reach an icefield (northwest of the mid-station). Up over this (crampons) until we reach the glacier again. Then continue over the glacier to the Mittelbergjoch 3,166 m. At the pass, descend about 80 m on a path until we reach the Taschachferner. Now ascend the Taschachferner (the route is well marked on the AV map no. 30/6 Wildspitze). We reach the north ridge of the Hinterer Brochkogel, leave it on the right and climb the firn summit of the Petersenspitze 3,484 m.
Descent same as ascent.
