Ledro

The Voralpen valley stretches in an east-west direction between Lake Garda and Mount Tremalzo. It is home to an extraordinary botanical diversity, as the climate shifts from Mediterranean to alpine within a few kilometers.

Numerous rare plant species grow here, such as saffron, a type of crocus that blooms in autumn. During the spring festival in May, the meadows of the Valle di Ledro above the village of Mezzolago turn white with the onset of summer heat, but not from snow: the narcissus bloom has begun. The Tremalzo area is known for its high density of plants that are found only here.

An important location for bird migration from north to south is at the Bocca del Caset pass. Equally worth seeing is the completely untouched Lago d'Ampola in the eponymous nature reserve.

Hiking is possible all year round in Valle di Ledro. Thanks to the great altitude differences, the routes are extremely varied. Near Lake Garda, you are at only about 65 m above sea level, while at Monte Cadria it goes up to 2254 m. Thus, you will find routes for leisurely hikes on the valley floor and around the lake, challenging mountain tours and via ferratas in the mountains. But also with demanding trekking tours of various difficulty levels and adventurous experiences such as wakeboarding, canyoning, and paragliding, you will have a great time in the region. 

Cyclists and mountain bikers also get their money’s worth in the versatile region. Numerous beautiful single trails lead through the forests, and in the mountains, challenging climbs and rapid descents await. Runners and trail runners also feel very comfortable here and find suitable routes. In summer, the lake invites you to refresh yourself, swim, sail, or canoe.
