Cresta del Concei - ridge hike high above Lake Ledro
Author’s recommendation
Those with enough (!) stamina and time can continue the route further along the western edge of the valley, possibly even up to Monte Cadria. However, that is an extremely long and strenuous variant.
Alternatively, you can add an afternoon swim at the beautiful Lake Ledro.

The route starts in Valle dei Concei near the settlement of Pastoria (850m) with parking available along the road. From Pastoria, follow a initially wide forest road to the right (402, continuously marked red and white). The path passes a cross-country ski parking lot (also parking possible). At the fountain there is the last opportunity to refill water bottles. The path continues with a slight ascent to a barbecue area and from here becomes a narrow and steep mountain trail (T2), which climbs through the Val Sorda to the Bocca di Trat (1580m). Only the last 40 vertical meters to the pass are covered again on a wide forest road. Bocca di Trat lies within sight of Rifugio Nino Pernici. 1h30min
From Bocca di Trat, the trail passes a statue of Mary and continues on path 420 around the rock massif Mazza di Pichea towards Monte Tofino. The terrain soon becomes more alpine and you are above the tree line. There are opportunities along the way for short detours to the summit of Mazza da Pichea or to a viewpoint above it. The path leads easily but steeply over the south flank to the summit of Corno di Pichea (2138m). From there, a short descent into a notch and sometimes exposed counter-ascent (T3) leads up to the slightly higher Monte Tofino (2151m). 1h45min
Here begins a beautiful long ridge to Doss della Torta, one of the highlights of the route. The mostly good path alternates between airy along the ridge crest and right of it on old World War I military paths (T2). After about one and a half kilometers with short ascents and descents, the ridge descends further to Bochet de Slavazi and from there ascends over Sella Doss della Torta to the forepeak of Doss della Torta, from which the summit cross of the main peak can already be seen (short sections T3, otherwise T2). The path initially winds around rock needles around the mountain and offers, somewhat hidden from the other side, an opportunity to ascend the summit of Doss della Torta (2156m) via an unmarked path (T3). 1h15min
The path continues winding through rocks with beautiful views of the neighboring valleys. The ascent to Gavardina (2047m) again takes place directly on the ridge. Here there is a memorial plaque for the victims of World War I. 45min
From here, continue directly on the ridge (path 455) down to Bocca dell'Ussol (1878m) over initially easy, later steeper sections (T3). Just above the pass is the rock chapel Chiesetta della Pace in an old bunker. 20min
Here begins the descent on path 414 towards Rifugio al Faggio. The path is partly steep and washed out but not exposed (T3). At Sella de Lomar (1600m), it is possible to descend either via the wider path 414 over Malga Gui or the narrower 414B. The path via Malga Gui becomes a rather unpleasant steep gravel track from the alpine pasture down to the valley and then follows a forest road to Rifugio al Faggio. 1h30min
The rest of the route to the starting point follows a beautiful hiking trail 2 km along the stream to Pastoria. 20min
