Geographically, Nonnweiler is idyllically situated between the hills of the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park and Lake Bostal. The landscape is characterised by dense forests, rolling hills and picturesque rivers. Particularly impressive are the rock formations of the Teufelsburg and the Wolferskopf nature reserve with its unique flora and fauna.

The tourist attractions include the historic Tholey Monastery dating back to the 7th century and the ruins of Grimburg Castle, which sits enthroned on a mountain spur and offers a breathtaking view of the region. Also worth a visit is the Velsen Adventure Mine, where you can delve deep into the world of mining.

Cultural highlights are provided by regular events such as the "Wendelinusmarkt" town festival and the "Weihnachtsmarkt am See" (Christmas market by the lake). Nonnweiler also has a lot to offer in the way of culinary delights: Be sure to try the Saarland specialities such as Dibbelabbes (potato dish) or Lyon sausage.

The best outdoor activities can vary depending on the season: In summer, Lake Bostal beckons for swimming, sailing or stand-up paddling, while in winter you can go skiing on the surrounding hills and mountains. Hikes through the picturesque landscape are also a highlight at any time of the year.

If the weather doesn't cooperate, a visit to the leisure centre "Center Parcs Bostalsee" is a good idea, where you can find swimming pools as well as numerous indoor activities such as bowling or climbing.

So Nonnweiler is definitely worth a trip! However, it is particularly beautiful here in the midst of nature - be it hiking, cycling or simply relaxing on the lakeshore. Let yourself be enchanted by this idyllic spot and discover all its beauties with our travel guide as your perfect companion.
