On sunny paths, we circle the Nonnweiler reservoir. The reservoir, fed by the Prims and Altbach rivers, has a capacity of 20 million cubic meters and is the largest drinking water reservoir in southwestern Germany. Along the planet trail with information boards and models of the planets in our solar system, the route follows the shore of the reservoir into the Prims valley. In the Altbach valley, we encounter the historic hammer mill "Züscher Hammer" with a nice rest area. Over the ridge of the Dollberge hills, the route leads to the so-called "Hunnenring." It was constructed by the Treveri between the 5th and 1st centuries BC to protect a massive refuge fort located inside it. The up to ten-meter-high "Hunnenring" is considered one of the best-preserved Celtic defense structures. At the end of the tour, visiting the "Hochwald-Dom" in the health resort town of Nonnweiler is recommended.
