Nahequelle Path

The approximately 6 km long circular route was specially created for families with children. The recommended direction of travel is clockwise. Start and finish is the Nahequelle in Selbach. The path impresses with a varied course suitable for both young and older hikers alike. Various forest landscapes, small water-bearing ditches, and numerous resting points invite you to linger. A large part of the Saarland can be overlooked from the height of the “Sengert” at just over 500 meters altitude.

Signposts provide visitors with interesting information. Through the loving planning of adventure elements for children, their interest and curiosity are especially awakened. While the little ones are occupied there, their companions can relax on benches. On a part of the route, an “insect hotel” has been set up. Text panels provide information about the life of native insects.

At the Nahequelle itself, there is a small playground. In the immediate vicinity, a “book tree” has been installed, which also offers literature for children. Fish can be observed at the pond by the shelter. The large wildlife enclosure offers insights into the native fauna. Thanks to the opportunity to feed, the animals come very close to the visitors.
