Tourist attractions include Hohenschwangau Castle, Ettal Monastery and King Ludwig II's famous Neuschwanstein Castle. The surrounding area also offers numerous opportunities for hiking, cycling or skiing depending on the season.

Cultural highlights include the annual "Alpentöne" music festival as well as various art exhibitions and theatre performances. For culinary specialities, we recommend a visit to a traditional Bavarian restaurant with regional specialities such as pork knuckle or pretzel dumplings.

The best outdoor activities can be enjoyed while hiking on the nearby mountain panorama in summer or letting off steam on the ski slopes in winter. Even when it rains, there are plenty of activities: a visit to the local museum or a relaxing round of bowling offer a change from the bad weather.

    Ich bin die Tour ab Ettal gefahren und konnte den anstrengenden Aufstieg zur Brunnenkopfhütte ohne schieben bewältigen, allerdings mit einigen Verschnaufpausen. Statt auf den Brunnenkopf bin ich die Stunde noch zur Großen Klammspitze gewandert. Sehr empfehlenswert, allerdings sollte man keine Angst vor Kletterpassagen haben.

    Zur Kiesgrube darf man nicht reinfahren. Da ist nur für landwirtschaftlichen Verkehr frei. Das war damals evtl. noch nicht so. Etwas weiter kann man an der Kapelle offiziell parken (7€ in Münzen Tageskarte oder per App). Die Tour kann dann ab dort gestartet werden. War sehr schön. Ich würde sie nur andersrum laufen als hier - haben wir auch gemacht und kann es sehr empfehlen. Bei Regen ist es im Wald kurz nach der Hütte Richtung Kappel äußerst rutschig und schwierig durch die Wurzeln und weichen Boden. Stöcke sind hier sehr hilfreich. Es kommen immer mal wieder enge und ausgewaschene Passagen mit Wurzeln und lockeren Steinen im Wald. Ich empfinde die Tour als leichte Tour, man sollte aber bedenken, dass man Wanderausrüstung haben sollte und nicht mit Sneaker etc. dort runter läuft.

    A very pleasant route, thank you. It's recommended to follow exactly the suggested clock-wise direction. The first part of the route is in a shadow forest, the second part is on a sunny Moos with beautiful mountain view. There are several benches to take some rest. Please be cautious, sometimes there are a lot of water on a way from the swamp, so, it's better to wear shoes with thick sole. Our tracker showed more than 14 km.

    Ich bin die Tour andersrum gegangen, bis zum hinteren Hörnle eher einsam, dann bis zur Bergstation recht voll. Runter am besten den Sommerweg nehmen, der angegebene Weg durch den Wald ist ein langweiliger Forstweg. Habe insgesamt mit Pausen 3:45 benötigt. Einfache Fahrt mit der Bahn würde stolze 13,50 EUR kosten (2025).
