Safety information
Consideration keeps paths wide
Please note that in our region you often cycle on agricultural paths. You are warmly welcome on these paths; however, these paths are of course also used by farmers with their vehicles for managing the land. Due to the width of the vehicles, paths can sometimes become narrow. Paths remain wide enough if all users are considerate of one another and, if necessary, give way and make room for other users. Please note that large machines often cannot drive off the paths. Therefore, cyclists should give way if it becomes narrow!
Thank you very much for your understanding and consideration for the people who have to work here!
Use of paths along rivers
We are pleased that the Weilheim Water Management Office has created dike paths along the rivers that may also be used by cyclists.
Please note that these paths were created for water management purposes and do not always meet the quality standards of bike paths. In particular, after construction measures, flooding events, and storms (trees falling over), the paths may show damage or impassable sections. Furthermore, occasional construction traffic is to be expected.
Please use the paths with appropriate caution and observe the traffic signs on site! Use of these maintenance paths is at your own risk.

Roadbook
Rottenbuch – Schwaigsee
In the beautiful monastery courtyard of the former Augustinian canons' monastery Rottenbuch, the route starts southwards through the gate arch and continues directly through the underpass beneath the federal road. Then it goes right, again under the federal road, and then continues over beautiful fields, through the hamlet of Moos. A third time under the federal road and for a few meters along the bike path until it then goes left and upwards directly into the beautiful nature. Across wide fields with a magnificent view towards the Alps, the path leads over gently rolling fields, past forests, alternating again and again between gravel and asphalt until after an ascent the Schönegger cheese alpine pasture is left on the left and the street can be followed downhill with momentum. The view opening up here is breathtaking. In the foreground the Schwaigsee, framed by royal alpine scenery.
Schwaigsee-Altenau
On the east shore of the Schwaigsee, after crossing the state road, it continues through the small village of Morgenbach and further out into nature. The roads run over wide hills, to beautiful heights, past forests and repeatedly present the alpine backdrop at its best. Pure idyll. Briefly, it goes windingly through a forest over Hargenwies and further past the hamlet Peustelsau, on the right there is a pond and a small chapel, before it then goes for several kilometers into the forest. In the forest, the path leads to the Königsstraße, which guides over a small bridge across the Halbammer. Afterwards, the forest clears and the path leads straight into the idyllic village Altenau, which is passed straight through.
Altenau – Rottenbuch
Subsequently, the path leads uphill to the outskirts of Saulgrub where the route then goes right over the federal road and after about a kilometer leads to the spa town Bad Kohlgrub. In Bad Kohlgrub, the street leads right for a few meters onto the main street and after about 500m left off the main road, through the sprawling residential area and back into nature. With the Bad Kohlgrub mountain "Hörnle" at your back, the path now runs very naturally northwards. Past fields, through forests mostly straight with a few curves, the path leads north of the Soier See onto Kirmesauer Straße and follows it to the left, past the Parkhotel, always with a view of the beautiful lake. In Bad Bayersoien the path turns right and leads through the village. After the village center, it goes left on a bridge across the federal road, after the bridge right towards the village exit. The asphalted street now leads over gentle wide hills northwards to the Echelsbacher Bridge, which crosses the Ammer gorge at a height of almost 70m. The last kilometers until reaching the starting point run only slightly hilly and relaxed along the bike path next to the federal road.
