Ariège

Nature in Ariège is remarkable and varied. This department of Occitanie, landlocked in the Pyrenees, is characterised by its imposing mountains, vast expanses of woodland, crystal-clear rivers and unspoilt landscapes.

The peaks, such as the Pic du Montcalm, are a magnet for mountaineers and mountain enthusiasts. Numerous rivers criss-cross the Ariège, providing ideal areas for fishing, canoeing and swimming.     la rando est magnifique, mais comme dit dans le commentaire précédent, la rando n est pas facile, nous sommes partis avec 3 enfants de 5 à 11 ans, il y a de sacrées montées...nous avons mis 6 heures nous sommes partis vers la droite effectivement la montée était raide, mais je n aurais pas aimé prendre le chemin ds le sens de la descente, le terrain était très glissant..

Great views. descent to the lake is fine, commiting and technical, the first couple of km down from the lake is more extreme, steep and very technical with lots of large rocks!
