Discover the various passes that have made the reputation of the Ariège stages of the Tour de France. From the Port de Pailhères to the Plateau de Beille and the Col d'Agnès, to name but a few, there's plenty to challenge you...
And Ariège also offers a wide range of landscapes and circuits of varying degrees of difficulty, in the Couserans, the Pyrénées Cathares, the Haute Ariège, the Pays de Foix and the Portes d'Ariège.

Let us take you from hills to valleys, along sunny ridge paths or in the shade of deciduous forests, through the Ariège valleys. Whether you're a beginner or an expert, there's something for everyone on the Ariège trails.
In the Pays Cathare, via the Couserans and the Vallées d'Ax, you'll find trails specially designed for mountain bikes.
For the more adventurous, discover the 223-kilometer Grande Traversée de l'Ariège, offered in 12 stages. Dream of new horizons on the famous Chemin des Bonshommes, the Chemin du Piémont Pyrénéen de Saint-Jacques and the voie verte in the Cathar Pyrenees. Adventure, excitement and exploration...
- Discovery biking
At the foot of the Pyrenean peaks, Ariège can also be explored via small roads winding through villages and hamlets, through the Ariege Pyrenees Natural Park and its waterways, or on the department's greenways.
From Foix to St Girons or from Mirepoix to Lavelanet, 2 car-free roads offer the chance to ride in complete safety.
These circuits are accessible to all, allowing you to discover the authentic Ariège by day or week.
DESTINATION RANDO
Ariège offers a wide variety of routes for hikers, with 2700 km of marked trails.
For history buffs, hikers can relive the Cathar exodus on the GR107 (Chemin des Bonshommes), a 12-stage route between France and Spain, or follow the GR365 (Sentier Cathare) and all the so-called Cathar castles.
The GR78 will also open the way to the foothills of Santiago de Compostela.
Experienced mountaineers can tackle peaks between 2000 and 3000 m in altitude: Mont Valier, Montcalm, Pic Saint Barthelemy, Pic des trois seigneurs...
Whether you prefer a family hike lasting just a few hours, or a multi-day itinerant tour in a high mountain refuge, the region's terrain lends itself to all your desires, offering a rich variety of flora and fauna.
