The Tuc der Òme is an interesting mountain because of the various events that took place in its surroundings in the past century.
At its foothills, there are the remains of the largest mine in the Vall d'Aran, the Montoliu-Urets mine, in a fairly good state of preservation, which operated from 1875 to 1918. These little-known but very interesting stories and the fact of reliving these stories in their natural surroundings are sufficient motivation to justify the ascent.

The Gardelle ponds can be a very good hiking destination; only trained hikers will progress beyond the last one. The south summit of Canalbonne presents the beauty and all the characteristics of great summits, even if it is not the highest.
