Styria: green heart, orchard and historic cities
The north is fresh, mountainous and rough. Between the Dachstein, Gesäuse and Hochschwab, the Grüne Herz spreads out its resilience as the most densely forested and thus largest province in Österreich. These landscapes are ideal for hiking, cycling and climbing.
The south presents itself lovely, soft and warm. It is considered the "gourmet market" and the orchard of Austria. Whatever Styria is called, one thing is certain: it is Austria's most fertile province, especially in the south, producing delicacies of great quality and variety. Styria is especially famous for its apples, pumpkins and, of course, its wine. But also meat and cheese specialties and pastries of all kinds invite you to taste and enjoy.
And in between there are also cities between tradition and modernity. From the cultural capital Graz as the largest to Oberwölz as the smallest town, cities and cultural sites are ideal starting points for exploring Styria. In addition to its varied natural landscape, the region is particularly fascinating for its history and the traditions that have grown out of it, which the Styrians still live and breathe today.
Hiking between Dachstein and wine country
Climbs, alpine tours, long-distance hiking trails, pilgrimage trails or pleasure hikes. Styria inspires with the new hiking tour „From Glacier to Wine“, which leads on two routes from the Dachstein to the wine country. In addition, numerous other attractions, such as the hiking regions, villages and trails awarded the hiking seal of approval, offer all nature lovers special experiences in the midst of a diverse landscape that is unique in Europe in such a small area.
