Styria is so made accessible to such an extent that outdoor enthusiasts could hike through the mountains for several days. The Gesäuse National Park and seven other nature parks turn Styria not only into a nature paradise, but also into a junction of long-distance hiking tracks. They lead through all altitudes and all kinds of landscapes through the entire region.

The Traisental Circular Hiking Trail with the trail number 655 runs around the Traisen Valley, located south of the capital of Lower Austria, mostly in the district of Lilienfeld. The trail is about 160 km long and generally requires 6-9 days for the entire hike. For this digital tour description, the track was checked against the natural trail route and the section divisions including checkpoints were completely revised (new guide planned). The twelve sections are designed so that at the end of each there is a checkpoint as well as accommodation options. Sporty long-distance hikers on a thru-hike will usually be able to combine two sections into a daily stage of 25-30 kilometers and 8-10 hours of walking time.
