Types of paths
- single-track trail

Distribution of effort
The route's profile forms an elongated waveform: in the first 2 km we descend 200 m, then ascend 250 m over the next 6 km, and finally descend about 50 m and finish almost flat, completing the loop running.
Recommended period
Can be completed at any time of day. A distinctly shaded route.
Our trail running section is supported by Dockyard. The route is recommended by the legendary Csaba Németh, Hungary's most successful active trail runner.
Author’s recommendation
- Running can also be combined with a family outing: Normafa, Anna meadow, and the Elizabeth lookout offer experiences for other family members as well, and there is a modern playground at the upper station of the chairlift.
- If you have the time, strength, and desire, you can also run up from the chairlift upper station to the Elizabeth lookout: this is about 600 m round trip with a 40-meter elevation change.
- From spring to fall, it's not necessarily required to carry water with you, as there are three blue water taps along the route: at the starting point, and at the 1st and 6th kilometer marks.

Itinerary
- From the bus terminal, after a short section marked Z+ and K↺, we switch to the Z marking and run almost 3 km on it.
- From the Z marking, we change to the Z↺ marking, then over another 3 km, we run straight through each junction in relatively short segments, but the marking changes each time: from Z↺ to Z+, then to S and P, then to S, and finally to S+, all without changing direction.
- From S+ we change to the blue ᵯ marking, then from this to the K↺ marking, returning to the start.
Route detailed description
From the bus stop, beside the Normafa Ski House (also hosting a blue water tap), we start on the Z+ and K↺ markings. After 100 m, turn left onto the Z marking. This gravel road descends gently, with beautiful views on the right over the Hármashatár, Remete, Mátyás and Szemlő hills, with the city below stretching all the way to the Danube. We run under Anna meadow until an intersection where several giant, centuries-old oaks stand. Here the Z marking turns right; we follow it along a more steeply descending path, first forest trail then gravel road again.
We reach an asphalt road, turn right and for a 200 m loop leave the Z marking to pass Budapest's most secluded monument. This requires only 50 m on asphalt; on the left under the trees is the Lajos Kossuth statue, commemorating that 'in 1837 Kossuth was captured by Austrian tyranny near this place'. The incident actually happened a few hundred meters away, in the woods at the 'Eye of God' reception, now somewhat dilapidated. Taking the unmarked path under the monument left for 100 m, we return to the Z marking at the blue water tap. We run past the abandoned building of the former Disznófő restaurant and a nicely preserved old spring house. Then we descend to houses, where for 150 m the Z marking takes the asphalt of Disznófő road before leaving it at the hairpin and continuing as a single-track trail.
A scenic section on the hillside follows, from which a beautiful view of Hunyad ridge opens to the right; at the end, we reach under the Fairy rock towering on the left. At the Y-junction, turning right staying on the Z marking leads to a steep, stepped descent; caution is advised when running here! Around the middle of the section, on the right we can climb a large rock formation with an open view directly to Hunyad ridge ahead and the previous route above on the right. At the bottom of this stepped section, at the fence, turn left.
We arrive at the top of the Snail stairs under the chairlift; turning left, we run diagonally under the chairlift, then continue on a gently ascending, comfortable forest path. This opens a section over 3 km where at each junction we run straight but the route marking changes every time.
Soon we reach the first junction where the Z marking branches right, and we continue straight on the Z↺ marking. Soon we cross the Tündérhegyi road asphalt (attention: cyclists may come at high speed from the left and above) and continue on its left side up to the next junction. Here the Z↺ marking sharply branches left, but we continue straight without changing direction, now on the Z+ marking. We continue comfortably on a normal forest road to the next intersection, where the Z+ branches right towards Budakeszi road and Szépjuhászné, while we continue straight on the S and P markings. From here the forest road becomes rocky and starts ascending. The P marking soon turns left, but we continue straight on the S marking as usual. The ground is still rocky, gently descending, and on the right appears the Children's Railway track. Near the Vadaspark stop of the railway, stones disappear from the path but the ascent continues. At the next intersection, we continue straight again, now on the S+ marking. The path becomes steeper here until we reach the playground opposite the chairlift upper station, where there are also a blue water tap and toilets available.
We cross the playground and continue running on the comfortable forest path of the blue ᵯ marking, which gently ascends to the old border stone and the Telekom tower fence, then descends from there. At the rain house and the intersection at the Elizabeth statue commemorating Queen Elizabeth's excursions here, we go straight through, now on the K↺ marking. The last junction is at the Children's Railway Virágvölgy stop; here too we go straight and soon return to the Normafa bus terminal.
