Circular hiking route No.7 in Wolfstein. One of the most beautiful routes in Königsberg. Over forest paths and trails, it leads over a huge porphyry rubble dump to a great viewpoint, past the idyllic forest lake "Blue Dump" and the Neu-Wolfstein Castle Ruins.

    This hike holds many surprises.

From the town hall, it goes uphill over the Neu-Wolfstein Castle Ruins on a well-hikeable forest path to Dümmler Hut, near the Palatinate high route.

A rest after the climb is recommended. The shelter was renovated by the volunteer fire brigade in 2013 and 2014. The somewhat hidden seating area offers space for up to 25 hikers to rest.

Further steeply upwards past the Pfriemen house through the Golddelle, you reach the highest point, Kreuzfeld (crossing point of many hiking trails in Königsberg).

Downhill on Friedensweg towards PWV Hut Hinzweiler, after about 500m turn right. Now you hike through a geological peculiarity in Königsberg.

Here stretches a huge porphyry rubble slope. In the summer months, it heats up and has its own microclimate.

Between stunted oaks and pines, over a rubble path, you reach the viewpoint. From here you can see as far as the Hunsrück. The red kite feels comfortable here. Warm updrafts remind of the climate of southern countries.

From here it goes downhill on forest paths towards the forest edge. A short uphill section leads down to a primitive forest area and then to the idyllic small forest lake "Blue Dump" with a spring.

Back, a gently ascending forest path leads to Dümmler Hut. From here, you return the same way as at the beginning of the hike to the town hall square.

WATCH OUT! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature

    - Always behave thoughtfully, friendly, and considerately towards everyone you meet on the way.

    - Take care of nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the paths.

    - Remember a garbage bag for the way and take your waste back home.

    - Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.

    - Observe all path closures for your own safety. Even on weekends.

    - Only park in designated parking spaces. Leave space for emergency routes and agricultural machinery.

    - Please give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

Hike on a sunny warm day. Experience the special climate in the rubble slope. Maybe you will encounter the mouflon wild. The sunset from Leienberg is indescribable. The PWV Hut Hinzweiler looks forward to your visit.

    Safety information

    General information:

Especially in autumn, pay attention that fallen leaves on the ground can cover unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches may drop later. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can be muddy and slippery. Not all rocks or ravines are secured with ropes or railings. Sure-footedness is required in places. You have to expect such path impairments when going on a hike. If you think certain sections are not passable for you, you should avoid them.

    NOTE:

We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. Still, there may be situations where hiking paths are closed and we were not informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a path closure or detour, please observe the signs for your own safety.

    The rubble slope requires sure-footedness!

    Equipment

For our hiking routes, we recommend the following standard equipment:

    - Sturdy footwear

    - Weather-appropriate clothing

    - Sun and rain protection

    - Sufficient supply of food and drinks, as there are not always dining or shopping opportunities available or open.

    - Even though the paths are very well marked throughout, for safety reasons it is always recommended

to carry an appropriate hiking map, so that in the case of a thunderstorm or emergency you can quickly find a safe area.

    - Hiking poles recommended.
