Kuhmo Lakeside trail is a popular walking route among locals and tourists alike. The route starts in front of the Kuhmo House and continues behind Kontio School towards the shore of Lake Lammasjärvi into the direction of Pajakkakoski rapids.  You can admire the rapids up close on foot walking on duckboards built from stone and wood. The route can be combined with a visit to the beautiful Ikola vicarage, where a short nature path has been put up in the forest. From Pajakkakoski, we will return to the city center through the Tuupala area via the Chamber Music Center and Juminkeko information center. After the center, the route deviates to the charming old cemetery on the shores of Lake Lammasjärvi before returning to the starting point at the Kuhmo House.

You can enjoy your own snacks on the beach piers or in the parks, but there are many good cafes and lunch places along the route.

The building was completed in 1999. It was designed by internationally renowned Finnish architects Mikko Heikkinen and Markku Heikkinen. The old wooden house on the site has been "recycled" in the Juminkeo building. Old structures have been utilized in the new building. http://www.juminkeko.fi/en/index.asp
