67700 Niederkirchen/Heimkirchen, Bornstraße 6 - head southwest - turn left into Brunnenstraße - before Karlshöher Straße turns left, turn left onto a path - hillside trail up to K32 - cross K32 - turn right - parallel to K32 to Karlshöher Straße (right curve) - turn left - follow Stenbachtal upstream to the pond - go around the pond - return downstream along Steinbachtal - turn left - Holbornerhof - Pfleger family farm museum - turn left onto K31 - follow this for about 450 m - turn right along the forest edge - Elkenknopf - serpentines downwards towards K31 - shortly before the district road turn left and continue to K31 - turn left onto K31 - Heimkirchen (Brunnenstraße) - turn right into Bornweg

Detailed route description

The starting point of the hike is the parking lot in front of the church in the center of Heimkirchen (Bornweg 6, 67700 Niederkirchen).

You go past the Röhrbrunnen fountain on the left up Brunnenstraße and turn into the nature trail opposite house number 56.

After a short ascent, you are above the village and walk at almost constant altitude on paved farm roads to the district road (K32) towards Rockenhausen. After crossing the district road, you come to the wooden bridge over the Nehring.

Follow the winding path down, past the insect hotel and pavilion (approx. 10 seats), over the wooden footbridge directly onto the nature reserve meadow. At the end of the nature reserve meadow - at the bee observation box - turn left onto the paved path. At the end of the paved road, turn right and circle the private pond area. Walk straight ahead to Hütterwald. Following the forest path you come directly to the forest classroom. At the junction behind the classroom, turn left, go up a short gravel path to the end of the forest, then sharply left again with a short ascent through the forest to the barbecue area.

Past the barbecue area to a small grove, you reach a paved field path. Follow the path to the right to a crossroad. Here turn right into the valley towards Holbornerhof. When you reach the farm, you see a yellow residential house with stables on the left side and a well beside the road.

This is where the Pfleger family farm museum is located. After your visit, hike down to the district road. Unfortunately, you must follow the district road on the left for about 400 meters until the hiking trail turns right into a field path. Here you walk past the pasture well to the mill forest.

Along the edge of the forest, the path then turns right into the woods and runs down the valley via switchbacks. Here turn sharply left twice and return on a forest path above the Holborner mill back to Heimkirchen.
