GR57 - Great Route of Ria de Aveiro: Blue Route
Around the main channel of the Ria de Aveiro, crossing the territory of the municipalities of Ovar, Murtosa, Estarreja, Aveiro, Ílhavo, Vagos, and partially, Albergaria-a-Velha. Lasting six days, the Blue Route starts and ends at the São Roque Canal.
The GR57 is one of the three major routes of the Ria de Aveiro. Designed along its banks, this blue route covers about 131 km, along paths as diverse as the landscapes and biotopes of a unique lagoon ecosystem in Portugal. From salt marsh areas to the “Bocage” habitat, from the pine forests planted on the dune ridges that hold the Ocean to the cultivated fields of settlements that have coexisted with the Ria for several centuries, this is a route that reveals the diversity and richness of the relationships that humans establish with the natural world. This route connects with the GR11-E9 - Atlantic Way.
