GR57 - Great Route of Ria de Aveiro: Blue Route - Esteiro de Salreu - Béstida Quay
Heading west, this stage follows the course of the Antuã River to the Esteiro de Estarreja, coinciding there with the Veiros Streams Route (BioRia) to the Ribeira Nova Quay.
In 2005, BioRia was created, the first nature conservation and biodiversity project in the Ria de Aveiro. A pioneering project, created to enhance the Ria and reconnect the populations of the Estarreja municipality with their natural and landscape heritage and open horizons to new nature tourism practices. In Salreu, at the Environmental Interpretation Center and gateway to the extensive BioRia Network of Walking and Cycling Routes, you can obtain binoculars for birdwatching, rent bicycles, kayaks, or even take a guided electric car tour. The stage that starts here, heading west, follows the course of the Antuã River to the Esteiro de Estarreja, coinciding there with the Veiros Streams Route to the Ribeira Nova Quay. The extensive boardwalk takes us to the splendor of the open ria, skirting the Murtosa canal, passing through the docks of Cambeia, Chegado, and Bico, with their wide complex of moorings where we can appreciate the traditional moliceiros, the ex-libris of the Ria that have Murtosa as their homeland. In Ribeira de Pardelhas, we find the Environmental Education Center, one of the points where bicycles from the “Murtosa Ciclável” project are available. Cabo Sobeira marks the meeting point of the Murtosa canal with the Ovar canal. From there to Béstida, we pass through Ameirinhos and Mamaparda, one of the best European spots for kitesurfing.
